What is the crown?
The crown is an ideal way to rebuild the tooth which is damaged with the decay or with a large filling. The crown includes part of the teeth, which sticks out over the gum; it shapes the tooth and makes it stronger.
When do I need the crown?
The crown is an optimal solution in many cases, for example when:
• the teeth are weakened with a large filling

Of what kind of materials the crownes are made?
The crowns are made of many different materials, for example:
• china clay on the base of metal (the most popular type of the crowne)
• the full ceramic crown – used mostly in the area of the front teeth. If the crowne is made adequately, is hard to distinguish it of the natural tooth
• china clay on the base of gold – crowns are very durable, biocompatible and esthetical because of “warm” colour of the gold
• the crowns on the base of titanium covered with ceramic – esthetical and very durable. It is used the most frequently as a rebuild on the implants
Is the crowne noticeable?
No. the crowne is made in such way that it fits ideally to the rest of the teeth. The shade of the closest teeth is checked in order to match the colour of the crown.
Temporary crowne fully copies the shape and colour of the future denture rebuilds, it is put at the end of the first visit and wore until the final crowne is put.
How long does the treatment last?
The treatment is usually made during at least two visits.
On the first visit the teeth is prepared, the imprints are taken and the colour of your teeth is established. The temporary crowne is put. On the second visit the final crowne is put.
Is the preparation of the tooth painful?
No, Preparation is made under the local anaesthetic.
Is the crowne long lasting?
Durability of the crowne depends of the fact how we take care of it. The crown can not be damaged with the decay but the decay may appear on the edge of the crown and the natural tooth. This area should be kept clean. If you take care of the crowns adequately you can wear them for many years.
How the crown is fastened to the teeth?
The crown is cemented with the special dental cement.
Why I should fill the gaps in my dentition?

Yes, if the closest teeth are strong enough and the distance between the pillar teeth is not very long. On the first dental consultation your dentist helps you decide what would be the best way to refill dental gaps in your case.
What materials are used to make the bridges?
The bridges are usually made of china clay on the foundation of precious or non precious metal. There are also full ceramic bridges which characterise with very good esthetical features.
Are the bridges expensive?
However you can think that the bridges are expensive, but if you take into consideration their long lasting durability and improving of your physical appearance you came to the conclusion that they are very profitable solution. How should I take care of the bridge?
The bridges should be cleaned every day to avoid bad breath and gums’ illnesses. Your dentist will show you haw to use special dental floss to clean the areas between your teeth where the ordinary toothbrush can not reach.
Are there any other ways to close the tooth gap?
Yes, you can, for example, apply partial dentures with invisible fastening or implants.
Are there many different types of the bridges?
Yes, there are many different types of the bridges varied with the way of fastening. Your dentist can chose the best bridge after analysing your individual situation. |
