What is implant?

Implant is a titanium screw, which is implanted in the bone of your upper or lower jaw. Practically implant is known as the titanium screw together with the artificial dental crown.

Is the implantological treatment safe?

Implantological treatment is one of the safest, predictable and advanced medical procedures. The percentage of successes is on average 95-97%. The rest 3-4% of failures is caused by different factors of the risk.

If I have some of my own teeth, will I be qualified to implantological treatment?

Yes. Every amount of teeth can be replaced with implants, from the one tooth to the whole arch of teeth.

Can all dental gaps be replaced with implant?

It depends of the shape of the bones of the upper or lower yew. Your dentist will make some diagnostic treatment to establish what amount of the bone is left. If the amount of the bone is not large enough, or the bone is not healthy, before the implantation the augmentation treatment (lengthening of the bone) will have to be done.

Are the implants painful?

Implantation is small operation made with the local or general anaesthetic depended of your own will. During this operation you will not feel any pain, but after implantation the feeling of discomfort can appear. It should stop after 7 days. This discomfort is caused by the stitches and the whole process of healing.

Will right after the implantation the new teeth put?

Yes, we have got the revolutionary Staumann SLActive system, which let for denture rebuilding just for 3-4 weeks after the operation. For the rest implants process of ossointegration must be reached. This process lasts about 3-4 months in lower yew and about 6 months in upper yew. If implants supply one, two or three teeth, for the whole process of healing you will get makeshift teeth. If you use complete dentures, you can use them during the healing process, as soon as the dentures will be fit after the implantation.

What kind of implants do you use and how long does the whole process last?

We use Nobel Biocare ® and Straumann ® implants. In March 2002 we got the authorisation of the biggest and the best known producer of the implants on the world. – Swiss company Nobel Biocare. This company, as the first on the world, 40 years ago implanted first dental implants. This company puts emphasis on the technological improvement and it modernise its products all the time. Nobel implants have 10 years of guaranty which is honourable on the whole world by every authorised dental surgery. Implants produced by this company have also 5 years of broadened guaranty which includes not only defects of the material but also mechanical damage of the implant and rejection of the implant by the organism of the patient. This guaranty is also honourable in all authorised dental surgeries.

How much time is needed for the implants?

Operation lasts about one hour.
In the case of Slactiv Straumann implants the it is possible overloading after 4 weeks.
I the case of the rest of implants we have to wait about 3-6 months until the implants are healed. On this period patient gets the temporary denture or uses his own dentures. After about 3-6 months the second stage of treatment can be started. During this stage the crowns are put and the whole work if completely finished.

Is it harder to keep implants clean than the natural teeth?

Cleaning of the crowns and implants is not more difficult than brushing the natural teeth. You will be instructed about the ways of cleaning the implants implanted into not easily reachable places.

Can I remove teeth fastened on implants?

Most of the crowns on implants may be fastened and removed only by the dentist. If you have dentures on implants, you can remove it by yourself in order to clean it.

Do I have to have one separate implant put into each place after the lacked teeth?

No, 5 or 6 implants usually let to rebuild all teeth’s arch, because on one implant two teeth can be fastened. In the case when there are more than two teeth’s lacks there is enough to implant two or three implants.
